Paul,

All of the stories in the article either happened to myself, or the person they happened to relayed the story directly to me. None of these stories are third-hand accounts.

Good article Paul for the points it brings up. However I would caution you and others to remember all the information you cited is second hand and will have some bias. And maybe inaccurate or mistaken even. Unless you here the same things over and over or have definite proof I woul not draw any hasty conclusions. But most certainly a good heads up article to waken peoples wariness when buying a workshop. Keeping those tips for the guides was the one that bothered me the most if in fact that's what happened.

I have to agree, this was an excellent education in what to look for. As a newbie to photography and a future workshop attendee this gives me much food for thought. However, David, as much as you would love to publish their names (and we would too) It leaves you open to possible slander. What you could do is publish the ones you would highly recommend though. ; )
Paul, On another note, I read your article on digital workflow in "Outdoor Photography Canada". Ouch! Great information even though it was way over my head in some cases but by this time next year??

Hi Paul,

I would like to know the names of these workshop leaders. I feel it does nothing to tell the story. These people need to be exposed because it makes it tough for me and you to attract workshop participants.

I never take my camera out of the bag on my photo workshops. I feel the same way as you do. Don't tell them , show them.

Lets expose those bad apples.

Paul, excellent article. I think there really has to be a distinction between photography workshops vs photography tours. Workshop leaders should definitely not be out there trying to get the shot, they should be focused on getting their participants the shot! Tours provide a little more leeway, as there is not as much of an instructional component, particularly if the photo leader specifies that.

Good luck on your loon workshop and other workshops this year!
